Reporting Options
The University strongly encourages prompt and accurate reporting of Prohibited Conduct that violates its policy. Any individual (i.e. student, employee, or third party) may make a report of Prohibited Conduct to the University. An individual may choose to report to an Administrative Agency, the University, to both, or to neither. Please be aware that a criminal investigation is separate and distinct from the University of Hawaiʻi’s institutional response. Support and resources are always available to a Complainant regardless of the chosen reporting option.
Non-retaliation Policy
University policy, as well as State and Federal law, prohibits retaliation against any person because they filed a complaint of misconduct or participated in an investigation. Complaints of retaliation constitute separate charges and may be investigated separately from the underlying complaint.
Using the EEO/AA Portal Report Form
What to expect if you submit an anonymous report:
- While it is helpful to know the identity of anyone reporting possible violations of University policy, through the EEO/AA Portal you can choose to withhold information (i.e. your name, identity) while still making a report to UH.
- Please be aware that depending on the level of information reported about the incident or the individuals involved, the University’s ability to investigate or respond to an anonymous report may be limited.
- In reviewing and/or investigating your complaint, the University will take whatever steps it deems appropriate under the circumstances.
Through the EEO/AA Portal, you can also log in with your UH username and password to submit a report.
What to expect if you log-in with your UH username and password:
- FOLLOW-UP: The University may contact you to follow up on your report, provide you with a status update of your case, or request additional information in processing the case.
- A Note on Confidentiality: While the University makes every attempt to keep information confidential, for reasons including fairness towards the Respondent, the University must ensure that investigations include a meaningful opportunity for a respondent to provide their view on the allegation(s) and to comment on the relevant facts subsequently gathered by the investigation. This means that any information shared may be used in this way. Additionally, while materials and information collected during the course of the investigation are confidential, they may be disclosed to appropriate administrators involved in the complaint process, on a strict “need to know” basis. Information may also be disclosed if required by law, rule, regulation, or court order.
If you have any questions or concerns about discrimination or harassment and would like to talk to someone, you can contact your respective EEO/AA Coordinator.
